C64 SID Music

November 8th, 2006

Honey to my ears.

I love listening to the sound I was growing up with. Fantastic C64 music from hits like Flimbo’s Quest, Firetrap, Storm Warrior, Bruce Lee, Mancopter, Pirates, Tapper… I could name endlessly.

Slrn

November 5th, 2006

I’ve always wanted to try slrn so I installed it last week. I made configuration and started using it.

I’m very tolerant and even use Vim ;) but slrn is a very weird program. It asks too much questions, there are too many confirmations - just like in Windows. Maybe it’s possible to turn them off but it should be default. Its default color scheme is terrible - I hate black backgrounds. The most disappointing thing is that this app cannot handle UTF-8.

I treat this application as a good piece of software but nothing else. There are many better news readers.

XML Library part 2

November 1st, 2006

I’ve looked deeper through Xerces. I’m even more dissapointed than the last time :( It is in C++ but it’s documentation is terrible. Additionally there are weird problems with linker :( I don’t have time to waste with this shit.

My only choice for now is Expat or TinyXML. That’s a pity that TinyXML doesn’t support SAX parsing.
